  3. it's a beautiful scarf, but i'm lost at Row 3. what do you do with the stitches on the cable, and what do you mean twice? there aren't enough stitches to p1, C5F twice.

    help? thank you so much.

  4. So far everything in the pattern looks good. This will be my first cable scarf so I'm excited to see how it turns out. The only thing that didn't add up with the pattern you wrote is row 8: K4, P2, (C5B, P1) twice, K2, P1, K4, it only adds up to 25 stitches instead of 26, so I changed it to K2, P2, K4 at the end. Hope it will turn out, I'll let you know!

  5. Hi everybody, just noticed your comments, I didn't realise anyone was knitting this! I will double check the pattern, it seems I may have made a couple of errors in typing up!

    Thanks

  6. I have changed the pattern now to make it a little clearer.

All the rows now add to 26, and I have made the cabling technique a little clearer. Please do send me more feedback, and I would love to see any pics of completed projects.

  7. Hello! I just made this beautiful scarf! I don't have much knitting experience but this couldn't really be any easier! My only concern was purling the first stitch off of the cable needle. If you figure that out then you'll be fine. I even messed up a couple of times (miscounted stitches having to redo a cable row) and you can't even tell where the mistake is!
I am definitely using this pattern for multiple gifts in the future!!

  8. Thank you for this lovely pattern, I have used it to learn how to cable.

I published a picture of the scarf I am making on my blog acknowledging your blog.

    Best wishes,

    Caterina

  9. Hi, I was just wondering if you could clarify something with the cable instructions for me. I'm really new to knitting so I don't know. When you say:

"C5F - move 3 stitches onto the cable needle in front of the work, K2. Move one stich from the cable needle onto the left hand needle P1, K2 from cable needle."

How exactly does that work? If you are moving 3 stitches to your cable needle, then K2, then moving one of those stitches back to your left needle, how can you P1, K2 off the cable needle? Perhaps I'm just over thinking this, but I would like some feedback if you are able. I realize this was posted years ago, but if you see this, thank you in advance!

    1. Hi Aurora,
Sorry it has been so long for me to reply. I hope the repsonse will help others in the future. I have updated the instructions to try and clarify.
You should have three stitches on the cable needle, you need to knit two stitches on the left hand needle and then work your stitches on the cable needle. You need to take the first stitch you would knit from the cable needle and add it back to your left hand needle. Purl this stitch. You can now knit the remaining stitches on the cable needle.

      I hope this helps.
